The Dark Moor Game (aka Orange Grouse or Freckled Dun) is pattern no. 7 from T.E. Pritt's original "North Country Flies" first published in 1886. Pritt describes this fly as "a good fly during March and April, particularly in a brown water, when the river is clearing after a flood" (Hey, sounds like Pritt may have fished the Mocha-hoochee after a good rain! :) ).

Hook: Daichi 1550 in size 16 (I used an Alec Jackson soft hackle hook in size 15 for this one)
Wing: Red (English) Grouse
Body: Orange Silk
Head: Peacock Herl

Bret,

3 or 4 wraps of the herl is usually plenty.

PS: it's actually me (buck) posting, I am at Bill's place working on my fly rod!
