I don't think it would matter but I put mine with the buckles on the bottom to make a smoother deck.

I'll try to get it in the sater by this next week end if possible---right now I've got a bad head cold and going to the DR. in the AM [monday] then I'll be able to finish the toon --need a anchor system for sure--I've checked GB's on the site and that looks like the way to go----

Just got my toon together Sunday. Does anybody keep the seat that comes with it or should I just go ahead and change to a regular boat seat?

I replaced mine with a swivel seat and really like being able to turn different directions to cast.

First thing to go was the stock seat. Wally world had a female base that attached to seat frame and a male base hat attached to the seat. Worked very well, but also picked up 11" extension. Cut and fit this to shortest length. This gives you a second height option vs just the base and seat. Not too high to be over balanced and folding seat (w/padding), is very comfortable,All available @ ---ungh----wally world. TRW

The 7" extension was too tall and it was going to cost $35 to cut and weld a $7 seat post to make it a 3" post. I'm looking for a cheaper source.

Watkins--could you be a little more explicit as to how you cut and fit the extension and what you wound up with??
Also I need to talk with Gonefishin with

some dumb questions ---about first timers toonin--

Extension post was 11" I think. It consisted of an alum. tube w/ nylon insert, (female) , in one end. Bent small hook on wire so as to measure exact length of insert. Marked tube so as to be shortest possible when insert was re- inserted. cut w/ hack saw. Knocked insert out of longest peice and inserted into short (measured) peice. Worked out very well. :cross: :)

Naaaagh, Gunne. I got long legs like you and allthou I broke an oar first time out, had no interferance problems. Only problem I found was geting in or out of raised seat @ shoals. Water needed to be more shallow. TRW
