Hopefully it's OK to post saltwater patterns here. I don't think I've seen any.

NOTE: This is a concept fly. It has never seen the water, so I cannot attest to it's performance.

Ingredients:
Hook: Sz 1 saltwater hook
Thread: mono
Weight: lead wire
Tail: white bucktail, gold flashaboo, natural bucktail, black krystal flash
Body: gold mylar tubing
Color: Sharpies
Eyes: yellow stickers with black dots
Coating: clear heat-shrink tubing

Recipe:
1. Place hook in vise and wrap with lead wire from just short of the bend to about 2 eye-lengths short of the eye
2. Attach thread at eye and wrap over lead to bend. Wrap behind the lead wire and return the thead to just short of the eye
3. Turn the hook over and tie in a small bunch of white bucktail. Make sure it is evenly distributed on both sides of the hook
NOTE: when tieing in the body material, the butt ends should extend all the way to just short of the eye. This helps keep a smooth, even body.
4. Return the hook to the upright and locked position.
5. Tie in flashaboo
6. Tie in natural bucktail
7. Tie in black krystal flash
8. With thread at the bend, carefully slide the gold mylar tubing over the body. The end will probably come unravenel. This is OK. Once you have slid enough tubing on so the it is still holding together at the bend, tie off at the bend. You may have to get creative to do this. I just throw on a series of half-hitches. Clip the thread.
9. Smooth the body out, then reattach the thread just behind the eye.
10. Secure the tubing and trim the excess. Pull any excess mylar toward the rear and wrap over them to keep the eye clear.
11. Color the back of the fly with a brown sharpie
12. Add gills with a red sharpie
13. Add eye stickers
14. Carefully slid the heat-shrink tubing over the fly. It should extend from the back of the wraps near the bend to just short of the eye. The thread wraps at the eye should be completely covered. Don't let the eye stickers slide.
15. CAREFULLY heat the tubing using eith a hair dryer or lighter. Different types of tubing have different shrink temps, so do this slowls and carefully. The synthetic materials on the fly will melt/coil and the haid will burn if you get to aggressive. Use forceps to hold the hook, as it can get hot.
16. Trim the flashaboo and krystal flash just longer than the bucktail.

Like I said, I have yet to fish this, but it looks like a decent immitation and should be able to fool a few New England stripers, which was my intent.

Nice looking fly bamapatriot.

You can post any type of fly on here cause we have a wide variety of fisherman, from small stream to open waters, fresh and saltwater.

I like your concept of using the shrink tubing.

Thanks for posting

BP, glad to see the heat shrink concept worked and you didn't toast the rest of the fly in the process! :)
