We flew up there last Friday morning for a long weekend. We also stayed at the Bighorn Trout Shop ( www.bighorntroutshop.com ), highly recommend them. All rooms are fairly new, rebuilt after a fire in '06. Guides were great and the food in the lodge is pretty good to. Already working on reservations for another long weekend this fall.

As far as fishing, Saturday was pretty nice, a little cloudy with a few showers but Sunday was terrible. Started raining shortly before we put in, temps in the high 40's / low 50's with the wind screaming. Rain finally cleared up around lunch, warmed up a little but the wind stayed with us all day. Fishing was pretty good Saturday, mostly browns. Sunday was phenomenal; no question my best day on any water. I have never caught so many fish and of that size on one trip. Most were over 19", best was a 22.5" bow. With that much action who cared about the weather.

Seems that about 1/2 the pics are to large to attach, here's a link to the rest of the pics http://s217.photobucket.com/albums/cc33/d_cruce/

See why I call 'em SFIT's? (Standard fifteen inch trout). Only in Montana! Those are some great pictures. Fall is great there but plan on next Spring as well to catch the Skwala hatch, too. Those big fish just attack those bugs!

You can spend an entire week wade fishing at AB. I didn't have to go very far to
catch all the 15"-20" fish I wanted. I've fished all over the state of Montana(except) the Missouri, and I've never averaged the sz fish that I did on
the BH. Just make sure you pick the least crowed time to make the trip.
I like Sept-Oct the best. The only problem with that time frame is turnover.
If that happens, you'll have to high tail it to the park. Great pics, btw.
Also, you can get decently priced airfare into Billings. Rent an inexpensive
car with good MPG's and drive 90 miles to Fort Smith.
Warning: it's a fishing town, not much else to do. My family wouldn't
care for it, but it's one of my favorite towns.

Jeff,
Come on up! If you can cast 60ft consistently you'll have a good time. If you can't, you won't. You'll need 4 days.
