I had a great vacation, but the fishing for the most part was lousy. High water levels and higher than normal water temperatures kept fishing success low. Where the water temp normally for this time of year runs in the upper 50's / low 60's, this year it was in the upper 60's and low 70's.
A very good friend of mine (who also happens to be a Penna. State Fish Warden) and I found a feeder stream that was stacked with trout. We each caught one, and after a long revival time, decided that they were very stressed and left them alone. We then fished the Allegheny River for Smallies, but the water was high and very stained. Managed to catch several on (GASP) spinning gear and rattle type lures.
Did catch about 30 native brookies toward the end of my time there in a "blue line" stream. The largest might have stretched the tape at 6 inches.
The best catch of the vacation was by Jeremy Ganss of Shippenville, Pa.
He landed this beauty at about 4:45 PM 5 July.

My niece Heather. FYI She made the necklace and earrings that she is wearing and also did the bead work on the gown.
