If you are in Tenn, you have to drop an "a" in Hiawassee. There, it is Hiwassee. Hiwassee Outfitters has some "cabins'--they are actually modular units set in like a mobile home and decked. More of fisherman accomodations than cabins. Prob 20+ yrs old and last I stayed--getting rather worn. If you are just looking to fish--prob fine. They also have "bunkhouse" accomodations for groups and a "big-house" that sleeps about 16. If you are looking for family cabin accomodations, there are others in the vicinity (Lost Creek Cabins for one)--but I have no experience with them. Google Benton,Tn Lodging. Black Bear Cove is the newest development on the river but their cabins are not yet finished. It's an RV Park, and will have cabins. I understand they do have their Lodge open with something like 10 Lodge units. Google their website. You might get some more recommendations by posting your question at www.hiwassee.net a local trout fishing message board.

Depending on what you are looking for there are several places available in the area. Are you looking for something really nice that the wife and kids will be comfortable in, or is it the i just need a place to sleep after i get done fishing type?
Here are a few:
Hiwassee Outfitters--big house, riverviews, bunkhouse
Reliance fly & tackle ---bunkhouse
Mtn. Stream cabins---(new owners) they have been doing alot of work on the cabins
Anglers Hideaway---behind Hiwassee outfitters
Stone Creek cabins---very nice
wispering ridge cabins---5 miles out on 315
and there are stil quite a few more in the area.
if you need any other info just let me know.

Just an FYI, I would avoid the Hiwassee Outfitters Cabins (Mobile homes) at all costs. We stayed there a couple of years ago and it was horrible. Holes in mattreses, bugs, etc. :pissed: Camping there is fine, but stay away from their MH's on the river.
