There is a possibility of a move to upstate New York up coming in my future. I've never been there and other than the Catskills (read about fishing there in Fly Fisherman mag.) I don't know squat about the fishing up there. The new area will be near Binghamton. Can anyone give me info on trout fishing in that area or do you have to travel, also I've heard about salmon runs out of the Great Lakes in the western upstate. Any info will be useful
Thanks

You wont need to travel far, great trout/smallmouth/salmon/steelhead water all around that area. I fished it quite a bit when I lived in NJ, shoot me a PM if you want some specifics.

I lived in Saratoga Springs, NY for several years and can tell you first hand that upstate NY is a fisherman's paradise. There are lakes galore full of bass, pike, etc and trout water abounds throughout the Adirondacks. And Lake Ontario is just a few hours away and it has awesome salmon and steelhead fishing.
If you can stand the winters, you are going to love the place! I almost got divorced when I lived up there cause I fished so much!
