A neighbor invited me and the wife up to his cabin in Haywood County North Carolina.
His place is just off HWY215 and close to the wilderness area. We have fished the Davidson which is east of there, but I need a little local info for the Little East Fork Pigeon River. Anyone with experience back in there close to the BSA camp and further up the road?

Dry as a bone up in the Shining Rock Wilderness. There was water in the river around the Boy Scout camp, but overall things were very dry all over. Didn't even see a fish.

Did not get to Shinning Rock, but drove past and heard lots of local chat in varying fly shops say how bad the drought is. I did get a chance to fish on the Davidson with former Pisgah TU president, Dale Klug. Great guy and helpful. Had a good time. Water there is affected by the drought also. The hatchery had the standard hogs that laughed at whatever you tossed at them and snubbed their noses. I wish I knew what was making them so fat, other than the crud released by the hatchery. It sure is disgusting and frustrating to get splased by a 18-20 inch trout as he comes out of the water and ignores your fly.
