I'm heading up to Michigan to catch some monster Salmon in small rivers. This is a first time trip for me so I was wondering if any of you Sages have any experience with this type fishing?

I did a couple of trips up to Michigan to catch Salmon. I enjoyed myself. Those fish are very powerful, with endurance far exceeding any other fish in fresh water. The number of fish in the river and the exact timing of the run can vary quite a bit, from year to year. If you are wading, it can be difficult to bring the fish to hand, since as they tire, they turn sideways against the current, and unless you can pursue them downstream, you may well need to break off.
