A buddy of mine won the Atlanta Fly Fishing club raffle to Saltery Lake Lodge and we just back from the week long trip. It was an exciting time with all the bears there. The Silvers were late this year so that was a little disappointing but the scenery made up for any unfulfilled expectations. My wife and I went up the week before and she caught her first fish on a fly rod. It was a good sized silver on the Kenai river. We stayed in Coopers Landing and fished at the confluence of the Kenai and Russian river. We only saw two bears there and two black bears in the city of Anchorage.
I have never posted here before and don't know if this is the right place for this but I took a lot of photos both on the Kenai and on Kodiak Island. Since I don't know how to post photos on here I am adding the link to the blog page. The bears on Kodiak are a close as they look. The last day I had quite a close call by surprising a big Kodiak brown bear and was actually chased by the bear, fell down crossing the river camera and all.:yikes::yikes:
They said they had seen more bears this year than the last 10 years combined.
