I think that's a Palomino Trout, but someone more biological than me would have to weigh in to confirm that and explain the difference.

Cool fish.

20 dollar per year trophy permit and a daily 7 dollar fee for tribal water. buy them at big dons bait and tackle on big cove road. bring cash he doesnt have a card machine. DONT go down there without both of them they patrol the hell out of this section and you will get written.

Good to know that they have the manpower to patrol and enforce the regs on this water. I for one don't mind being inconvienenced for a few minutes to insure the ongoing of this fishery.

Just one question, is this water going to be feed supplemented? I read somewhere that it would be supplemented and off limits on feeding days.
Any ideas?

the fisheries guy i think his name was robert blankenship told me he would supplemental feed them every so often with floating food from all the bridges and pull offs. planned on doing that, adding the donaldson strain fish next year and re stocking every six weeks or so. he said he hopes to be digital next year so people can buy permits online and save hunting for a shop. he is a super nice guy and very receptive to what we as fly fisherman need. he runs the tribal fish hatchery stop by and see him.

Though commonly called the "Palomino Trout," this fish is actually a color variation of the Rainbow Trout and should be refered to as a Golden Rainbow Trout. Rainbow Trout can grow to a length of 45 inches and a weight of 42 pounds, though most local specimens max out at 24 inches. Silvery-white color with distictive yellow/gold band on sides. A very popular sportfish in Pennsylvania.

Very colorful and cool looking. Congrats on the catch, of all the fish. Bet they were fun. What were you using?

a black bugger. all the other "little" fish would hit it as soon as it hit the water so i had to jiggle it untill they let it go lol. found one of the palominos that seemed to be picking up some nymphs here and there and made a cast at him. pretty mild natured came in for the most part.

I have been fishing the res since I could walk and the last thing that area needs is more fishermen, I guess that explains why I moved west, to many fishermen and to many trails beside the places that I hold very close to me.

Anyway those fish are everywhere in that river, My grandparents have a place there and I have seen 100s of whats considered trophy for that area and this has been occuring for 24 yrs.

I am glad to see that the people of that area have some more revenue coming in, I have known the guys a the hatchery for along time, to this day when they see me they are super nice and always ask if there is anything I need!

That is a cool looking fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
