View Full Version : Sam Rizzio Youth Fly Fishing Clinic - May 9
This year's Sam Rizzio Youth Fly Fishing Clinic will be held on May 9 at the Buford Trout Hatchery. The event is limited to the first 36 who register. The fee is only $15 and participants must be between 10 and 15 years old. The lead instructors are FFF Certified and there is a coach for every two students. The Upper Chattahoochee Chapter of TU is the organizer of this event and receives support from other TU chapters, GWFF, DNR and The Fish Hawk.

Caddis asked that I bump this to the top because there are still spots available.
If you have a child 15 or under (I'd check the age limit but the UCCTU web site is experiencing technical difficulties as I type) who is interested in fly fishing this is a good introduction. It was moved from mid-summer back to spring because of the heat. Ironically, we filled it in July last year but could not fill it in previous springs because of conflicts supposedly with sports. There is no perfect solution but the older guys that volunteer their time to coach probably prefer the spring and probably kids that come do too.
If you are interested, check out the attached registration form in the first post.
Thanks.

Just a thought:
I don't know if there are any preferences that the coaches be TU members but if any NGTO veterans would enjoy being a coach, I'll gladly make ya an honorary Tailwater member. It only lasts until early afternoon and all the coaches do is help with fly casting and a bit of knot tying. They try to pair up coaches to kids one to one or one to two at most.
Of course, I'll have to show you the secret TU handshake, verify that you only fish dry flies upstream, and make sure you have your Orvis credit references...naturally.;) (That's self deprecating TU humor if you are of a G-U-L-L-I-B-L-E nature.)
I probably do have to check and see if there are TU insurance issues if somebody actually wants to volunteer.
