I don't know if I can help but for example:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z233/troutguy/100_1976.jpg

for this picture, I just clicked on the little window that says "Image link code" and then ""IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards" box

In there it has many already made codes where you should just be able to copy via "IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards" and paste here into the typing area. Sometimes you've gotta click on it once and then right click and then copy and paste it here. It's a little tricky but definitely manageable.

I was trying to get the pic's to show in the post without a link and have yet to figure that one out. I am thinking it may be my computer settings, but if anyone at work finds out the I don't really know technology I may lose my job.

Do other posts have pictures show up without clicking a link? RBL - did your post have a pic or a link to a pic?

To place a photo in your post, click the insert image icon and paste the image code in the pop up box. I use the Direct Link to copy from, it's the second one on the list under the picture in photobucket.

here's a shot showing the "insert image" icon and the pop up box to paste the direct link code

Hope this helps

I would think that putting the pic itself in a post is much more resource-intensive for NGTO than a link. Photobucket is set up to store pics and access them via links, why not let it do what it does well, using their computing resources, and just link to it? I'm pretty sure just our blabbing takes up a bunch of bandwidth (if that is the right term).

FM - I thought about storage capacity as well, not so much on bandwidth, even 100 pic's at low resolution can eat up 100 MB.

But I couldn't figure it out which is why I was trying, and thanks to the link from gone, I see that I am missing the tool bar that shows on his image. Now I have to figure out if I need to turn a switch on or switch to IE instead of Firefox.

If you use photobucket then all you have to do is click in the bottom box under the pic you want from photobucket. I think it is called "Image code" When you click on it...........it automatically copies it and then all you do is paste it in your message and the picture will show up with your text.

It doesn't work like that for me, I actually have to hilight the code, then copy paste into my post. I also don't get the toolbar that was shown in the screen shot

 When you select Reply to post you do not get the message box as GoneFishn posted?

Very Interesting, cause I use Firefox and have no problems.

Try this:

Go to "User CP" here on NGTO
on the left under "Settings & Options" select "Edit Options"
Scroll all the way to the bottom to Miscellaneous Options box
What is it set to?
If it is "Basic" try setting it to Standard or Enhanced.

OKAY!

I had a Homer moment. When I set up my PROFILE OPTIONS I turned off a bunch of things like avatars, etc and anyway - I have firmly established my place on the short bus

Fishmonger..... your saying that using the "insert image" box is memory intensive and I should just directly paste the picture in with the image code?

paste in test...

The bandwidth impact of inline images is mostly on Photobucket or Flickr or whatever hosting site you're using.

Using the Manage Attachments functions is next most intensive and then of course we limit the number of images/bytes you can directly store in the NGTO Photo (http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/photopost/index.php)section.

All that said, the inline linking function (not Manage Attachments) works the same regardless of where the image is hosted; Photobucket, NGTO, etc. Just click the little postcard-looking Icon and then paste the URL of the image. That's how Spinner, et al, imbed images in their threads like this one. (http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70004)

Tracy - yes, that's the method.
