I have a Sony I think is the older version of the Cybershot H10. I love the pictures it takes but find it is too big and bulky. It is always in the truck when I want to take a picture.
My wife bought a Nikon Cool Pix 550 and I like the size of it. I want 8-10 optical zoom. I want it just to take pictures when I am out hunting or to put in my fly vest. I am a point and shoot guy, much more technical than zooming and I am out of my techno range. What would be a good camera for my needs?

I have the Olympus Stylus 850 SW. It is a small camera and it is shock and waterproof. It is only 3X zoom but it is up to 8 MP. I love mine.

Makes dang fine one handed pictures, shock and waterproof, made for small children and fishermen everywhere.
Got mine for Christmas at Costco, significant rebate, I think I ended up paying around160.00

Agree with the Olympus advice. I have a Stylus 770. The cool thing about the Stylus SW's is they're waterproof. You can actually take good pictures underwater with them. They're shockproof. You can drop them from about 6 feet and they won't be hurt and they're freezeproof. They take phenomenal pictures also. Another option are the Pentax Optio's. Many people on here like them also. They are also waterproof. I don't really know if they are shockproof though.
I'll heartily second the Olympus Stylus 850 SW. I bought my wife one and I am totally impressed... the "scene" mode wizard is awesome and the underwater macro shots are better than anything I have ever seen... I did a LOT of research before we bought and she couldn't be happier with the 850.

I wish I could say that. I got mine in the spring of '08 and paid over $300.:bang:

Does anyone know anything about the Pentax equal to the 850SW? It looks pretty cool too, but I think might be around $300. Did see the 850SW on clearance at Target this week for $212.

Not to brag, but I got mine for free through a rewards program at work. Between it and the Gloomis fly rod and 2 reels I got, the rewards program really helped out with my fishing addiction this year. :D

Check on ebay. I just bought an Olympus Stylus 1050SW, new in the box, for $185. It is the 10 megapixel version of the 850. I saw several 850s for less than that.

I've got the Pentax W30 and it's not a bad little camera, just different than the Olympus. They came out with a W60 this year that is a little better and will allow for more than 3 meters deep under water.

I like them. They are not water proof. Nothing a zip lock bag can't solve.
They are easy and almost idiot proof. They are well priced. Get another.
