View Full Version : DH Update
(yeah, I am spoiling some info for the DH talk at the Fling but....)
Jeff,
I just spoke to Rick Slade with the NPS and we should be able to stock all locations by November 1st. They hope to open Paces Mill and Johnson Ferry next week and plan to add gravel to the path at Whitewater Creek. We will schedule a volunteer stocking at Whitewater soon after November 1st. So, stocking should go as it has in past years.

Thanks for the Update Jeffg !!!!!!
AND.. for the DH talk at the Fling.. we will be also talking about fishing the DH year round.. There is much more to that section than trout, alligators, inebriated tubers, high levels of ecoli and crazed labs swimming after you while in float tubes.
we will be trying to get any more updates we can by that time too.

Where can you sign up to help with the stocking? I've always wanted to help out with that.

When DNR is able to safely get into Whitewater, they'll ask for volunteers. Most likely, next week. Whitewater (East Palisades) requires a bucket brigade because the hatchery truck can't get close enough to the water to stock as shown below. The buckets are harder on the fish, and the objective is to get them swimming freely as quickly as possible.
With a full work party it takes maybe an hour.
Believe it or not, some folks have actually hung around to fish afterwards!!!
Update - DNR has been busy today. Durniak sent these photos as they were merging from I-285 to 400. Now all we need is lower water!
