View Full Version : Just got back from a tough day at WW

Fished White Water from 10-2. Water was a little high, and wading was tough, but those DH fish are awesome this year. Caught about 30 in the 4 hours. Most were under 10" but I did manage a 24" brown, and a 21" rainbow. All caught on big salmon flies. The highlight of the day was almost slipping in the water only to have a 16" brookie hit at the same time. I managed to land him.

Great day to be out. Thinking about doing a PM shift as well.

Great news - thanks for posting!

Yea, sorry about that. I was backing up the jet boat at White Water and ran into GB's car. It was quite a firework display.

that fire pic looks like a fake to me. I meant figuratively.

But that pic is a good metaphor for how the fishing was today. I must have gotten there right after the stocking or those fished washed down from the upper part.

Don't forget your DH trout tags. Dick's in Buckhead had sold out but finally found 'em at the Walmart in Woodstock.

My gut says this is all BS, but its hard to tell with some of you guys. Are these reports correct? Or am I just a sucker? Seriously you guys can't mess with my emotions like this.

Quoted for truth. Last time I saw one of these I thought the trout got washed downstream from heavy turbidity :(

I stopped by WW after lunch, the rain was coming down but man was the bite on. They were really hitting WB with orange body and peach / pink eggs.

The run off had not started clouding up the water yet but I'm sure it's going to get yoohooie by tonight.

If you did not make it out there today, you need to hit it as soon as it clears up again !!

OK, I will fess up - the river is not on fire. :) That pic is actually of that river that caught fire in Ohio many years back. You know you got a polution problem when your water catches on fire.

PS: if the fishing were really that good, this post would not exist! :)

I knew it was fake until some fish pics went up. Then I thought to myself, "dummy fish pics?" Then the fire comments had me doubting again, and the fact that the river must be Manute Bol right now, but the dummy fish pics made me ask. At least I didn't drive over.

Every once and a while I'll sneak over and peak at his blog/website and see what DNR shocked up fish are being claimed.

Buck,

That photo is of the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland burning in 1968. My wife lived downstream in Cuyahoga Falls, and the whole region was embarrassed. It only burned for half an hour, but it wiped out some smaller bridges & cost a bloody fortune.

This is a perfect example of how stuff gets cleaned up...Lake Erie is a prime fishery now, as is the Cuyahoga River.

From Dunwoody, Roswell Rd to Mt Paran, then right on Harris Trail and left on Whitewater Creek Drive

I ride my bike to WW sometimes. Easy 5-10 minute ride, although I tend to get some looks with waders, boots, and my rod being carried.

I think I may change my name to Baldea Shenaanagans Ochocinco.

Lil'Heff wants to add to this post....here he goes Spencer's post

the easiest way to find WW is to wade out at CS about even with the parking lot, then just walk down stream until you see the steps on your left, not your right, but your left. Go right at the devlis race course and stay right again at thornton shoals. As you get near the jumping rock stay left against the cliff, the water is nicer over there! Try to keep an eye out for the gator that use to live around there and report to us if you see him. after the long stretch of slow water you should see the steps, but be careful getting out with wet shoes you might slip and fall. Good luck and let us know how you do, and how long it takes you to get there.:D

If you follow Nu's directions bring your water wings and notify next of kin that you won't be home before dark!

I just returned from following my own directions. I could not sleep last night, because I felt so bad about missing the meet and greet in Woodstck. So I thought I would get out of the house for a casual stroll. I ended up at CS and thought instead of walking up the path I will wade down to Paces. It did not take as long as I thought but it is more difficult in the wee hours of the morning. On one stretch I even got a nice log ride, until the log suprisingly took off and seemed to tail whip me. I thought that was weird, and I just chalked it up to some debris in the water grabbing onto the log. Dropped my keys once but after a couple of dives I found them, boy it sure is tough to see under that water right now, the turbidity must be at least 8 or 9.
I did manage to keep my towel dry so as I hitched back to CS I did not get that nice man's custom 70s van (the kind with the bed in the back with the chains in each corner) wet. He was very nice and kept asking me if I wanted him to take me home and offered me candy. I insisted that my car was not far away and that I would just wait until I went trick or treating to get some candy.
Maybe this guy could start a shuttle service for fishermen?
I should have brought my rod and fly box, but I was just in the mood for a casual walk not anything heavy like fishing.

That's just a sad sad story. It revolves around an underlying message of your state of mind and a lack of recent fishing trips. :shake:
