Before we start we need to make sure you have your editor setup properly so you will see the icons that will assist you in embedding video and other multimedia into your Posts.

Go into your "User CP" and on left side look for "Edit Options"

Then scroll all the way to the Bottom of the page till you see the window like the one below and open the pull down selection box and set it to what you see in the picture below and save. That should give you the edit window format you see above.

Then when you go to start a new thread or reply to a post you should see a editor window similar to the one below:

Note: if you go back into a thread to edit and you do not see the icons, you will have to click on the "Go Advanced" button to see the screen below.

To add a YouTube Video to a post:

1-In YouTube highlight and copy the video # for the video you want to embed.

Typical YouTube video URL's look like this:

1a - Right click and select just the YouTube video #

1b - This is the video# for the YouTube video link above - K_qM_8v5XBI

1c - if you are trying to embed a HD video, the video# looks like this K_qM_8v5XBI&ap=%2526fmt%3D22

*** Remember we will not tolerate any inappropriate material :tut::rules:

3 - Once you have copied the video#, then come back to NGTO, place your cursor where you would like to place the video in your post. Then click on the YouTube Icon http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/ad249/NGTO_PhotoBucket/misc/youtubeBBicon21X20.jpg located up on top right of the editor window.

4 - You will see 2 sets of brackets around the word "Youtube" appear in your post. Make sure your cursor is between the two brackets in the middle and then right click and paste the link you copied in Youtube.

5 - When you Submit your post you should see the video you embedded.

3 - You will see 2 sets of brackets around the word "PHOTOBUCKET" appear in your post. Make sure your cursor is between the two brackets in the middle and then right click and paste the link you copied in PhotoBucket.

4 - When you look at the link you just pasted you will see this code ?action=view&current=. You will need to delete this part of the link, ?action=view&current=

Very cool! Thanks SS.

Does embedding a video load that video onto the NGTO server, or does it just link to You Tube? i do try to be conscious about that because I know our server space is not infinite.

Thanks scallen2112. This has been something I have been wanting to do for some time without compromising the security of the forum.

Using the embedding options we are linking over to the YouTube and PhotoBucket server. The data is then streamed over to our site, just like when you stream video from Netflix, Hulu, Comcast, AT&T or Blockbuster.

This keeps the amount of data actually stored on our drives to a minimum. However, I will be keeping an eye on performance and bandwidth usage. If I start hearing that access performance is drops, the need for these features will be re-evaluated.

Sir you have passed the test. You may now move to the head of the line.

Some of you may have noticed that recently the YouTube embedding link was not working. It looks like YouTube made some changes.

I had to update our link to work.

Now instead of copying the YouTube embedding link into NGTO you only need to copy and paste the video # from the URL of the YouTube video you want to link too.

For details on how to identify the video# read the 1st post in this thread for instructions.
