For all you anglers with young kids, this will be a great way to introduce them to fishing. Also, the Forest Service and Foothills TU are in need of a few volunteers to help bait hooks, untangle lines and give out prizes. If you think you can help, please contact me via email at flyfish@unicoioutfitters.com . Thanks for your help, and we hope we'll see a lot of kids there on Saturday. Here's the USFS information:

Calling all kids ages 2 through 15 years old!

Tell Mom and Dad and the rest of your friends and family you want to go fishing at the 2010 Nancytown Lake Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, May 8th at 8:00am. Everyone who fishes will be very likely to catch some fish because approximately 2,500-3,000 rainbow trout will be stocked in the lake. There are also some bass, bream, crappie and catfish in the lake.

The rodeo is for kids ONLY 2 through 15 years of age and each child can only use one rod and reel. A limit of 8 fish of each species can be caught and taken. All fishing will be from the shore since boats are not allowed. Parents or Guardians can help the small kid’s fish, but can not fish for the child. Rodeo organizers will be on the lookout for over-age anglers. Volunteers will also be available to assist the kids. Parents and fishermen and women, please be respectful of others around you!

At 11:30am, all fishing will stop so everyone can have refreshments. Kids will get goodie bags and prizes will be awarded.

If dangerous weather threatens, the rodeo will be called off and everyone will gather at the picnic shelter to give away the donated prizes.

This event is sponsored by the USDA Forest Service, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Foothills Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and is supported through donations and volunteer assistance from several local groups and organizations.
