Guys I am very proud to announce that Cherokee NC, Rivers Edge Outfitters, NC Fly Fishing Team, and Team USA Fly Fishing, is bringing the 2011 US National Fly Fishing Championships to Cherokee North Carolina. This will be the weekend of May 21st. Friday, Saturday, Sunday

This event has been held in the famed waters around Boulder Colorado, Vail Colorado, and State College PA, just to name a few. This is the first time the Nationals has come to the Southeast and Im very excited to be able to host a world class event on what I believe is the most under rated water around. Venues will stretch from the Nantahala to Fontana to Cherokee.

With that said I am looking to NGTO for help. Just like the SE qualifier we will be needing alot of judges for this event. Judging means you will follow an angler for his 3 hour session and measure his fish caught. This is an opportunity to watch THE VERY BEST fly fishermen in the country fish water you know. Even if you arent in to competition there is something to be learned from these guys. Ask anyone that has judged one before. ALL judges will be getting a brand new 2011 Simms guide shirt and hat with the embroidered US NATIONAL FF CHAMPIONSHIP logo on it. In the past only competitors got this, but thanks to a donation by Robert Blankenship of Cherokee Fisheries every judge will get a shirt and hat too. This was a 6k investment on Roberts part and he did that for you guys. The same guys he built and maintains the trophy water for.

If you can make it out to judge it will support Robert, Cherokee, the team and I, and the whole situation. If you know anyone that would be interested in judging (no ff experience needed) please do me a favor and send an email to them. We have 10 weeks and I know I can count on NGTO.

I cant thank you guys (and girsl) enough for your support.

Please email me with any judges pbourcq@yahoo.com

I can second Paul's comment about learning a lot. I was a judge at the Southeast Regional qualifying event and it was a lot of fun, plus, I was able to pick up quite a few tips and techniques. Give it a try, you will enjoy it.

They definitely need some judges, so don't be shy and give Paul a shout. If you are at all interested in competitive fishing, this would be an awesome oppurtunity to see what you will need to learn to do.

Requirements-none.

Judges score fish that anglers catch on provided score trays. You will get to watch the best of the best anglers fish and learn from them. You will also get some sweet logo gear from the event for your time. email me at pbourcq@yahoo.com if you are interested in helping to judge or volunteer.

discounted room rates are available in Cherokee for ALL judges and competitors.
