Just found out I'll be chasing swamp lizards in September. I was drawn for one of Georgia's gator permits. Compound bow with Muzzy's gator getter setup and a 357 magnum bang stick for the finishing touches. I'm ready.

That's great for you, Fred! I know it will be an adventure.

For our Swampy dude, I'm afraid it'll be another night of sitting shiva for his fallen comrade/dinner companion/belt. ::ke:

I'm a mite bit worried that the compound bow will only irritate dat big, ol' lizard, 'less you can stick him 'twixt the ribs. I used to feel a tad bit better carryin' an SKS with steel core ammunition. With the steel core, ya ain't gotta necessarily hit dat "sweet spot" at the base of his skull.

Save me some tail meat if ya can. I gotta have somethin' to fry up for tailgatin' afore the game in Baton Rouge on October 8th. (Right GB?::ke:)

OH have I already been planning that weekend. Hopefully GB will come watch the game with me again. It'll be a little more exciting than last year and I have a feeling it will be a little more rowdy.

Swamp Angel, we just use the compound to attach a line to the gator so we can "reel" him in. They won't let us use rifles in Georgia.

As far as the tail meat.....if I get one I'll fix you up for sure.

Good luck Fred.....I believe you can dispatch the gator with the rifle after hooked, etc. Just can't shoot a free gator.

This post has got me to wonderin'. . . Is te Okefenokee open for harvest or is it still strictly off limits? I swear, I think you could walk across 'gators through that swamp and never get your feet wet. (If you were the type to try it, which I'm not.) They are certainly THICK in that swamp!
