Fishing in November 14-17, 2011 at Davidson River
I am organizing the first annual Davidson River trip. As you may or may-not know we went over in July as a fact finding trip.
The schedule and suggestions on what and where to go is fluid, and of course will be open to ideas that anyone would like to do. If you cannot stay during the whole duration, not to worry, just let us know.
One suggestion was to also fish the French Broad River.
My personal ambition is to fish from the Hatchery down to Davidson River Outfitters. The guides say they can do this in one day. After working some of river I believe that working the stream in one day is too fast, plus they know the stream/pools So for me one day the French Broad River Two days the Davidson River
All I asked is that we meet the first night Monday Nov 14th at 7:00 pm Twinn Dragon (mhtml:{602C8D09-4FDD-4F99-BA97-E6997A0FC984}mid://00000477/!x-usc:http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=27437005&msgid=599193&act=1MOU&c=631415&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fmaps.google.com%2Fmaps%2F place%3Frls%3Dcom.microsoft%3Aen-us%3AIE-ContextMenu%26oe%3DUTF-8%26rlz%3D1I7ADBR_en%26um%3D1%26ie%3DUTF-8%26q%3DTwin%2BDragons%2BGrand%2BBuffet%2C%2BBreva rd%26fb%3D1%26gl%3Dus%26hq%3DTwin%2BDragons%2BGran d%2BBuffet%2C%26hnear%3D0x8859a4cb5640a41d%3A0x8f8 5466844a544b3%2CBrevard%2C%2BNC%26cid%3D2227040948 046642076), to review the day.
Accommodations
I have made arrangement with a local hotel at a cost of $52.00 plus tax a night.
Just mention my name (Robert Sullivan) prior to payment for the discount.

Each room has 2 X queens.
The rooms are clean having a small refrigerator, and microwave, plus all rooms are on ground level, so you can bring in your equipment.
We found that going the local grocery store, buying sandwich meat, bread , etc was the easiest, then making lunch the night before work out well.
Restaurants
During our last trip in July, we were not getting off the river past 9:00 pm and could only hit the Burger Joints since most of the restaurants close after 9:00 pm.
I was able to peek inside the Twin Dragons Grand Buffet and we should meet for dinner Monday night. The Buffet stops at serving at (9:00) after that we can decide where to go the following night.

Fished the Davidson and French Broad Oct 10th to the 14th. The Davidson is pounded to death about every 50 feet or so someone was fishing. we caught a few rainbow. The French Broad was the star between the 3 anglers we landed about 120 rainbows and brook trout. Most where landed on egg flys and beadhead pheasant tail nymphs. Caught about a dozen in the 18 to 20 inch range. Fished 4x and 5x tippet. Ther is a stream about 10 miles east of Brevard can't remember the name fly shop will know all i remember is its 5 traffic lights from the fly shop turn left and you run into it. Great fishing there caught many rainbows in the 12 to 16 inch range. Fish the old standard flys and you will do great pheasant tail nymphs, hairs ear nymphs, egg flys, san juan worms all did great. Good luck on your trip.

Thank you for the update, and I will pass this information on to the guys. You should come along!!!
We went in July and same thing, it was very crowded at the hatchery, but as I went further down stream, isolated.
I am going to take a look at the map and follow up on the stream you mentioned.
For some reason though, I would just like to completely fish from the Hatchery to the Outfitters this time.
Thanks, again
