Got my turkey in the oil-less fryer and the bird was too big to fit in the basket. I cut the legs off so it would fit and I will smoke the legs with three fatties.:)

Man that must be a big bird! Last one I did was a 14lb and there was enough room left that I could have put a whole chicken in. Biggest I ever did was a 18lb. I sure love the oil less fryer. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I will never go back to peanut oil again.

I probably could have forced it in but I did not want to do it on the first try. Besides,I like smoked turkey legs. They are getting some color.

Done in less than 3 hours.
So far I am impressed! Final evaluation is at 1pm when we eat. Smoked legs look good too.

If those drumsticks don't make your mouth water, you're either dead or vegan.:drool::drool:  :D

I am converted. This is the best turkey I have ever cooked. Moist and tender and tastes like fried! My turkey pot is now my Low Country Boil pot!!!!!!!

Man I'm drooling like a dog at a butcher shop. Did you make gravy from the drip pan? I put the neck in a pot of water to simmer for a while then strain that and the drippings into a pot for some great gravy. Whole lot easier and safer than a fryer so we use it more often. Does a pretty good chicken too.

I did not use the drippings. My wife made giblet gravy on the stove top using everything in the little package inside the bird. Good stuff.

Been waiting for some time to get an honest opinion on these fryers. Sounds great. I had 50$ tied up in peanut oil to cook my Christmas birds. I think I will have one of these by next year.

David, I am ignorant of oilless fryers - sounds like an oxymoron.

Where'd you get it? Was it expensive?

Us ignorant folks want to know more!

Bought at Lowes,$79.00. Peanut oil is $20-30 a box and my old cooker held 2 boxes to fry an 18 lb turkey.

The only thing I have done in mine is turkey and chicken. Not sure how it would do on fish. I don't belive you would be able to bread it, although I could be wrong, and you would have to come up with a hay to suspend the fish so it would cook evenly. Dang, now you got me thinking.....
