Hear ye, hear ye! The 2012 Spring Fling is only 9 days away so it's time to start thinking about those side dishes to compete for the highly-coveted (well, OK, generally liked) Iron Skillet award. Fling participants vote for the savory or sweet dish that they like. Winners of each category will win a Lodge Cast Iron skillet.
So please do bring your side dishes!
If your dish needs power, such as for a crock pot, that can be arranged.
Also, I'm not making Brunswick Stew this spring so others have an opportunity to cook up a batch! (sorry Windknot...).

Brent's BBQ is the main course, but it makes a huge difference when you guys bring your amazing side dishes! Beans, tater salad, deserts, etc are all welcome and very much needed. And if you do your very best work, you could walk away with the coveted Iron Skillet Award.
Thanks in advance!

Bring a side dish...and get totally outdone by Mrs. Slowstreamer's cookies again? Well...I'm going to use the excuse of mentoring the DFD siminar and bow out on the Iron Skillet this time. Seems like a good way to save face.
I just hope she brings those cookies back. :D Oh...so good!

Mrs. SS plans on baking her cookies for the fling but will not be participating in the Iron Skillet. She is glad everyone enjoys them and that is more then enough of an award for her.
Me personally, one iron skillet can cause enough damage to my head when I get out of line. No need for the possibility of another on hand if she misses the 1st time. ;)
Com'on folks let see what you can cook or bake up. All the post on the Food Forum have been driving me nuts.
Anyone know how to make fried pecan pie mini's :D

OK folks, just a few more shopping days to go until the Spring Fling and we're all looking forward to what folks bring as side dishes.
I know I am! :licklips:
Hi - I'd be happy to cook up some Collards for the bbq. Is there a way to heat them up? I am participating in the DFD seminar and they'll be cold by the time lunch rolls around. I don't have a crock pot....

Bump!
Trout8myfly: Thanks for the offer of the crock pot. I'll take you up on it. I'm putting the greens on the stove as we speak. See you tomorrow morning.
