View Full Version : Old-Timer, new to flies! What trout?

Have been lurking this site since Don Newton told me about it at JB several weeks ago. My son-in-law (with ulterior motives) recently gave me a 8 1/2 #4 fly rod for a bday gift and I have become fascinated with fly fishing for trout in cold, fast water. I am retired so have some time ----- looking for fishing partners and would often be available at a moments notice. Live close to JB on the Chatahoochee.

Have fished at JB, Smith-Gall, and the Amicalola at 53 bridge, but no fishy YET! I think I may not hold my mouth right!! Hoping to learn how from some of you more seasoned vets. Nymph fishing is a challenge!!
My flyrod experince has been warm water and poppers. For trout it was bait and lead in Idaho... as in a local approach.
I plan to attend the Nov Fall Festival and help with the stocking next week so as to meet more of you. I attended the last gathering at Dreamland and enjoyed meeting many of the familiar "handles" from this board. Look forward to fishing with many of you, and swapping flies and lies....!

Hey, Pat, welcome to the herd!

Be patient with our belovéd HOOCH. Her waters are messed up from Lake Lanier turnover. It'll get clearer and your catching will improve. It must be tough living near Jones Bridge, huh? But somebody's gotta do it, right? Trust me, there are trout at Jones Bridge much bigger than any I've ever caught there!

Obtainez vous a special plastic, 5-gallon bucket and join the brigade at Whitewater to stock the delayed harvest this Wednesday. Be there about 10:30. Meethinks the labor of love begins at 11:00. See the announcement in the Events & Happenings section of the Message Board.

You are all very helpful and looks like a lot of lighthearted fun to be enjoyed. look forward to meeting more of you at the stocking, the Fall Fling and the Nov 22 Regatta. Keep me in mind as a partner for JB... call me or email ........ just got me a float from Ebay and anxious to try it out. Pat
