A year of fly fishing

I've mentioned before that I just got back into fly fishing after 20+ years of spin casting. I'd throw a few poppers to bream every once in a while but that was about it. After reading all the post on here for some time I decided it was time to give it a serious try and take some of the advice offered by the posters.



If was very frustrating at first. Once the casting got better, not great, but better, the next problem was learning which flies to use and when. It took quite a while before I caught my first fish on a fly. I was even known to slip a cricket on there just to get some action, still do on occasion in the put and take streams. Once that first trout grabbed the fly and took off I was hooked.



It's been a great first year back to fly fishing. I've bought way more gear than I should have. Rods, reels, accessory items, tying material, tube, toon, yak and other related stuff. I look at it as an investment into a great way of fishing that will always be challenging and ever changing as the streams we love to fish.
