Cause of death still unclear for reality star
"Mitchell passed on the swamp, doing what he loved," the History Channel says
He fell on a boat and may have had a seizure, a sheriff says
"Swamp People" chronicles the lives of alligator hunters in Louisiana

(CNN) -- Mitchell Guist, a star of the reality TV show "Swamp People," died Monday in Louisiana.

He was aboard a boat near Belle River Landing in the southern part of the state when he appeared to have a seizure, said Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack, citing an unidentified man who was with Guist.

The reality show star then fell on the boat.

The man who was with Guist towed both his boat and Guist's boat back to the landing, called 911 and performed CPR, said Waguespack.

Guist was transferred to the Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, where he was pronounced dead.

"We are extremely saddened to report that our friend and beloved member of the 'Swamp People' family, Mitchell Guist, has passed away earlier today. Mitchell passed on the swamp, doing what he loved. We appreciate your respect for the Guist family's privacy and hope you join us in sending our thoughts and prayers to his brother, Glenn, and the rest of the Guist family," the History Channel said in a statement.

Glenn Guist is also a cast member on the show.

"Swamp People" is the popular History Channel TV series that chronicles the lives of alligator hunters in Louisiana.

I need some places to fly fish; more of a quantity than a quality type thing as I don't have a lot of experience. I've fished some in north Georgia, Tennessee, and at Yellowstone; only been fly fishing for a year. I'm looking for stupid fish, not old smart ones.

Also, can anyone recommend a guide at this late date for the Mueller area?

I tye my own flies. I tye my own knotted leaders, now I'm thinking about getting into Rod Building. I know their are kits available should I buy one of these and if so which one or should I buy what I need by the piece? I know with fly tying kits you get a lot of "iffy" stuff that will not be used, is it the same with rod building kits? I've got a Mudhole catalog and its a little overwhelming because I have no idea what I'm looking at or need. I'm not looking at building a lot of rods but I would like to build 2 or 3 over the next few years if that makes a difference. Any advice and opinions would be appreciated. Also Rod Building I'm assuming like fly tying the quality when you start out is a little iffy and then you get much better, If so then should I start with a cheap rod blank to get my skills going before I invest in a SAGE One blank?

Regardless of either outcome, we want more of this adrenaline rush. Unfortunatley finding a fish that feeds and presents itself for this type of sight-fishing is difficult to find... enter the carp. Carp can be found all over the place, and in most cases rather abunduant. Henry Cowen here to talk about Carp fishing on the Fly! Henry is an accomplished fly angler with many patterns and cover shots on countless magazines. The presentation will begin at 7:00 with food and drinks served at 6:30! We look forward to seeing you here, you don't want to miss out on learning more about this fishery right here at home!
Figured I would give yall a rare view inside one of my boxes. This box happens to just have my BH caddis larva, a whole slew of hare's ears (Nymphs and soft hackles), and random other flies. Hope yall enjoy and maybe it will spark your own creative bend next time you are at the vise.

well like pretty much anyone that has been in fly fishing for a while you collect a lot of extra stuff. This is even more true if you are into tying flies. I have been thinking about it for a while but finally am getting around to putting up a post for it. I am selling off some of my extra flies. Some are pretty nice, others are not quite so elegant. I realized it was time to part with some of them when I had two medium sized fly boxes, and about half of a medium plano box filled with flies that I don't use. I would prefer to sell but am willing to possibly trade (Depending on what you offer :) ) I have everything from some okish dry flies (wouldn't work well on moving water but would make a good bream fly for sight fishing) to woolly buggers. (I have around 300-400 that I am planning on selling). If for nothing else the stuff can be cut off to salvage the hooks. (Pretty easy to do if you have a sharp razor blade). Shoot me a pm if you are interested.
