  • #KickPlastic Campaign - GA Rivers

    I recently went to Jackson Hole and fished the Snake with WorldCast Anglers. They were a part of the #KickPlastic campaign that you can read more about here: https://www.costadelmar.com/us/en/in...t/kick-plastic

    Specifically, here was WorldCast Anglers participation in the program: https://www.worldcastanglers.com/kickplastic/

    Iíd love to champion this and bring it to the Atlanta and N. Georgia fly guides. We all know how many plastic bottles are in the Hooch and the conservation efforts that are needed. Iíve reached out to Costa to discuss, but never heard anything.

    Any thoughts from the Board on getting some traction here?

    Plastic Water Bottles

    There can be a certain convenience to these plastic pacifiers but with so many Yeti like products around I fail to see the point. When you read the list of chemicals used to create these plastic bottles you have to wonder why anyone would want to keep their water in this stuff.

    We shall now morph to the topic of "what the he!! makes you think the water in a plastic bottle is better than your tap water?" Most of these products are just well water from the same aquifers supplying city drinking water. Find a whole series of articles in Consumer Reports showing there is no difference between most tap waters and most bottled waters.

    Continuing my "what the he!!" rant, I went into a convenience store to buy a coke and saw the price between a coke and a bottled water are almost identical! At least with a coke you get some sugar and flavoring. I would love to know how many bottled waters were sold in 1990 vs today.

      Apparently Costa frames are made with Castor oil which I have a hard time believing since more and more of their sunglasses now say Taiwan and China.

      Remember reading something a while back on why we use bottled water. It started over in France and Italy with Perrier and Pellegrino. Costa basically wants you to buy their bottles sound like to me.

      Theres been some successful plastic bag bans going round the country, But just look at the last name of the guy who's against it:

      Coincidence? Ain't no such thing as coincidences!
      We are the music-makers,
      And we are the dreamers of dreams,
      Wandering by lone sea-breakers
      And sitting by desolate streams;
      World losers and world forsakers,
      On whom the pale moon gleams.

        I saw that too, bio resin is what they call it. Not sure if some giant conspiracy or just an attempt to stay hip in this green era. My Fishpond pack is made of old fishing nets apparently, I don't really care but they sure wanted to let me know it.
