  • Great day on the Hooch thanks to Big T

This is my second attempt at posting this, so if you see same info in a similar posting I apologize. I had a great day on the Hooch at the dam yesterday, fishing about 2.5 hours between releases, caught between 10 and 15. Now I know that is not a lot for some of you guys, but for me it was a great day, especially considering the short time I was there. Met Big-T in the parking lot and he was nice enough to take a look at my set up and change it to two size 18 tungsten bead head midges, 6X tippet, and a small thingamabobber. We did not add any weight. Also, he was nice enough to help me with my selection of water to fish, in that he showed me the first hole to fish, and then I followed him around at a reasonable distance, cleaning up after him so to speak. I fished from the ramp downstream, then across and about half way to where the stream enters the river. Here are a couple of pics of fish I caught. As always the biggest one got away. Thanks Big T for setup and advice. I would also like to mention that I fished the dam the prior day late in the afternoon after the release and caught three on an olive wooly bugger, size 10 I believe. Had a lot of bumps and several LDR's. All of the action came in the deep hole just up from where the stream enters the river. A friend told me he fished that morning from above the ramp and down below the ramp with a number 8 or 10 olive wooly bugger, caught 8 and had a lot of action all along the stretch.

Thanks to you and others on the forum I have picked up a few things over the years!

Hillis you just needed a couple of tweaks and some magic midges.

Isn't that why we always call him "that dam Big T"?
