  • Dam good day

Headed for the dam this morning to hook up with splatek16 for a few. Met jkwolek1971 in the parking lot. Started off slow but ended up being my best day at the dam. 15 to hand, because I didn't have sense enough to bring my net, in 3 hrs. Only 2 bows in the bunch. Amazing how the bite would turn on when the sun peeked out, then off again when the clouds took over. Used a variety of flies, all 16/18 and mostly naturals.

Had my heart broke when I hooked a hog brown that was laying right next to a downed log....and didn't have a net. Dumbass. Easily my best fish out of the 'Hooch. Broke him off at my feet trying to figure out how to grab him to release.

Joe did net one for me while we were chatting so only 1 pic....thanks to Joe.

Everyone needs to quit telling stories. Island Ford once again is where you and Steve, me and everyone else who has caught a fish on the upper tailwater found them.

It was nice meeting you.. I started the morning down mid-island with 2 tugs but no fish.. Went up to where you were and still not much.. They were chasing my streamer but no hook ups. After I netted that fish I moved across the river and started to catch them on a fly with an orange collar???? Not sure what it was but it definitely caught the fish... Ended up with about 12 or so..

You were definitely right about the sun.. Behind the clouds, bite bad. Out, bite good...

On a sad note, passed a spin fisherman on the way back up and he had a stringer full of browns.. One or two of which were north of 14inches... , but he had the right to keep them....

Yeah there is a fellow I've seen a number of times in. Belly tube that keeps em all.

I actually am 95% sure he is the super skinny salt and pepper guy behind the bass pro reel counter. I talked to him on a walk into the back side bowmans when I was still wading alot.
I like em big fat and sloppy.

That brown right there has got to have spot inferiority complex or something, It's got about half as many as most others...
          Pretty nonetheless.
Good job out there. Great seeing you.
