I think Rscott and Rich put Gout up to it. Tired of the frequent skunkings administered by IF they started brainstorming on how to get more fish to the relatively fish less waters. Things got extreme real quick when one of them(the exact culprit is still unknown) decided to detonate a bomb creating a tidal wave of trout that would hopefully flush all the fish down south. They needed a scapegoat, though, because those gentlemen are way too high profile to be(directly) involved in the act. They needed to keep their hands clean.
So, they decided to use the resident hooch hooligan, Gout, to do the dirty work.
Gout, now armed with military grade explosives set up shop near JB, because everyone knows that area is rich with kype jawed browns and 19.999” rainbows.
Now, obviously Gout botched the plan. He intended to place the bomb below the bridge as to not effect one of the hooch’s biggest landmark, but as usual he ended up getting into a pissing match with a couple of Czech bait chunkers. Things got heated. After throwing everything he had on his person he grabbed the explosive and without thinking he chucked it at them with all his might. As usual, Gout missed. He hit the bridge and it exploded on impact. Now most folks would have grabbed their gear and ran, but Gout ain’t most folks... Instead he took pictures to back up this elaborate story about the bridge collapsing on its own. Is it possible? Sure.
In the end I guess we will never know...
First of all, I knew those commies spoke my tongue but where too proud to admit it. Finally got it out of them once I started bad mouthing their green bottled pilsners.

Second, I have no access to explosives and no one I know has any input on AR builds or where to get reliable hearing aids.

Sometimes a pebble and a simple understanding of ornithological flight patterns or a certain Canadian avian variety is all that is required.

ETA: Scratch that. Looks like it'll be a new bridge.
I remember Unclefun put something up about Johns Creek buying up all that land. This bridge talk has been up in the air for 3 years now. I was against it at first, but now my folks are looking for a house in that area so I wouldn't mind access to both sides of the river.

I am kind of surprised the local news has not picked up on this story. I guess if it does not involve politics, blood, or sex, it is back page news.

I must say this was a well thought out response sir, but RScott and myself had nothing to do with this unfortunate event. Now on the other hand, the resident hooligan that you mentioned Gout I can not speak on his innocence since he has admitted he was there launching rocks(grenades) at the structure lol.

Sladerers! All of youse! Rest assured, if I go down get in trouble for this, names will be named.

                    But seriously:

A historic bridge built in the early 1900s collapsed into the Chattahoochee River, officials confirmed Saturday.

Bill Cox, superintendent of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, said the collapse of Jones Bridge at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area took place about 1 p.m. Thursday. No one was injured.

Cox said the bridge section that fell Thursday was on the Fulton County side of the river, on land that is part of the national recreation area in Johns Creek. The metal support piers gave way, sending that end of the bridge’s frame down into the Chattahoochee’s waters. Cox said it was probably just time which took its toll on the bridge.

The bridge, first constructed in 1904, fell into disrepair in the 1930s. It hasn’t been usable for cars or even walkers for several decades and was reduced to shell of a bridge over the years. But it was still a special part of the park.

Cox encouraged kayakers and canoers to use extra caution in the area to avoid getting caught in the structure, which may not easily visible in higher water levels. He said warning signs are up, and markers have been flagged where the collapsed piece of bridge is located in the water.

He said the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area will remove the piece of the bridge in the water during the coming months.

Wonder how they will remove it? Seems like you would need cutting torches or metal saws? Seems like a big project. Maybe a crane?

Crazy no one was under it or hurt.

I heard they're gonna float it down on a barge to reinforce Morgan Falls in order to prevent the whole tailwater from turning into a disappointing DH section and have to listen to folks complain about it on a forum.
