  • Finally made it past the dam to fish the Hooch WMA

Family camping/fishing trip these past couple of days. We ventured into the WMA and was not disappointed. Fish were picky but we did manage a fair amount. Can someone that fishes the lower WMA tell me if this would be a stocked brown/hold over brown or stream born???

Nice brown. I'd guess holdover. Love that stretch of river.

Nice fish!! Great that you were able to find the fish. Love the Hooch above Helen!

A couple miles north of Helen. Go thru Helen to the flea market at Robertstown. Left over the bridge, immediate right. WMA begins a mile or so in and is marked.

Regularly stocked with some limited natural reproduction. Managed as a typical put-and-take fishery.

              Frequent bear sightings.

The cool thing is the WMA has both easy access areas and very difficult remote areas. Take your pick.
