  • Notifcation of GWFF Member - Deb Bowen - Passing

It is with a heavy heart and tear filled eyes, that I relay to you the passing of Deb Bowen. She was surrounded by her family in the hospital when she passed away mid-morning. Deb's enthusiasm and passion for teaching all things fly fishing especially casting is her legacy. She became a Fly Fishers International (FFI) Certified Casting Instructor on April 30, 2009. She served as the Education Director for GWFF since her certification.

There is no word as of yet for her final arrangements. I will post an update when the family has announced them.

The fly fishing community lost a very bright star today. Deb, you will be forever missed and loved by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing you.

      Update:

There will be a celebration of life for Deb on March 29th, her birthday. Currently, I do not have a time and/or address of the funeral home where this will be held. I will update when I have additional information.

Thank you, Carolyn. Please keep us updated regarding the time and locale. I keep hearing more and more wonderful stories about this wonderful woman and I keep thinking how many people loved her, and how many other people missed out on knowing such a warm, loving, and helpful person.
If you have difficulty understanding the post above, read it out loud and it should make sense. This NGTO member is known for his poor hill-billy upbringing and his affinity for all things from Louisiana (particularly if it relates to LSU). It makes for a poor mix of accents and much difficulty in translation. He was doing well for so long, but now seems to have regressed.
