  • Single hook inline spinners

    Hello,

Just started with spin fishing again and wanted to find out if any board member had suggestions for single hook lures vs. treble hook lures. Tried to cut off 2 hook tines and lure was horrible.

Thanks in advance for any comments and suggestions.

      Single hook inline spinners

Or just take the treble hook off the split ring and put a single on

Great Idea, just color me duh for not noticing the split rings.

        Thanks.

Buy some Panther Martins, replace the treble hook with a single hook fly, like a Bugger

I don't think most spinners are assembled with a split ring. You can cut the hook off and replace with a split ring and single hook.
These brook trout will strike any fly you present, provided you don't get close enough to present it.

If you're replacing hooks go with Siwash single hook one size larger than the treble you are replacing. If I can't find any local single spinners, I order Rooster Tails 1/16 oz from Cabelas.

Make sure you use a straight hook with the opening up to keep fouling down.

Never noticed but you're correct. But now I'm curious because the blue fox #4 I bought the other day came with a treble and a single hook so I guess it does have a split ring. I'll have to go check

OP, these are my favorite spinners as they can be run much slower than rooster tails

Panther Martin makes single hook versions of all their spinners, as do Mepps and Worden (Rooster Tail).

Thank you all for the great information, where I can I will use single hook versions of lures mentioned here and if the treble hook versions can be converted will do that as well.
