  • Anyone fish a Hardy Duchess reel?

I have been drooling over the new Hardy Duchess reels since they came out. I need another trout reel like I need a hole in the head. But after handling them in person at the Flyfishing Show this weekend I am smitten. They are pure man-jewelry.
Curious if anyone has fished one? Need someone to tell me they are pure crap 😂

    DawgVet,
I fish Hardy Perfects and think they are great. I also like the sound they make. It's also pretty cool when others hear it and ask what type of reel it is.

      have one

I have one - I use it exclusively when I fish my 4 weight bamboo. It's a beautiful reel - great for small stream fishing. Your description of it as jewelry is right on the money. Is it worth the price - nope. Is it as good as most modern reel high end reels - probably not. Do I regret purchasing it - not one bit.

        Eye,
I have a Perfect on my short list of reels that I must own one day! Love to hear that melodious Hardy song!

        AK,
I think that is a gorgeous combo! Who made the bamboo rod? I have a 8í Oyster that Iím looking to match up.

Dawg, that's a 7-9, 4 weight I built as part of the Oyster class. As I indicated previously, the Hardy is not my best reel in terms of performance, but for that particular rod, it's perfect.
