  • WTB Air Rifles

    Hey gang

I am needing to purchase an air rifle. There are a bunch out there to choose from and not sure which one to go with. Would prefer a made in America rifle and would also prefer one with hard sights plus scope. Any recommendations?

PS: grew up shooting a Sheridan Sliver Streak, wish I still had that gun!

I hear Red Rider makes a good one.

      Nice Try

Red Rider is a spring powered BB gun made for kids to shoot each other's eye out at Christmas time. I am looking for a 1000 FPS or more pellet rifle with some kill power.

        Squirrels in the bird feeder?
"Fly Fishing Is Not A Team Sport"----Tom McGuane

The fisherman now is one who defies society, who rips lips, who drains the pool, who takes no prisoners, who is not to be confused with the sissy with the creel and bamboo rod. Granted, he releases what he catches, but in some cases, he strips the quarry of its perilous soul before tossing it back in the water. What was once a trout – cold, hard, spotted and beautiful – becomes “number seven.”

Actually the Daisy 499 is pretty nice, accurate, and it is a BB gun.

Air rifle? How much do you want spend?

I like the Gamo Whisper and the Benjamin 392.

The problem I find with air rifles is the pellets. If you get a wonky batch your accuracy will be off.

I can identify with your problem. I live in the country and use a 22 rifle. I saw some nice BB/Pellet guns at Walmart with 1000 FPS. But if you want to kick it up a notch. Umarex Octane. Another suggestion would be a Hav-a-heart trap. Catch 'em and release them at least five miles away.

                    I
                    Just bought a Gamo Whisper
bone Collector at Wally World. This thing is quiet, super accurate and powerful. I have gotten rid of most of my squirell problems.

I have a Ruger Airhawk very nice. Break barrel 1 ****=1100fps.adjustable sights with scope included.
Drawback is it is a heavy gun and is reasonable loud.
Midway shooting supplies had a great sale.

Or get Ms. Kay's recipe for squirrel brains, and squirrel & dumplings.

I've had squirrel dumplings, they are quite tasty. The biggest problem is skinning the little rascals. They are a lot tougher than they look.

                              Squirel dumpling are the best.

Preacher I'll have to show an easy skinning method.
