  • Tailwater TU Meeting Tuesday, Sept 17th: Chris Scalley of RTA Guide Service Speaking

Chris Scalley will be speaking on two topics this Tuesday.

First, he is gearing up his Chattahoochee Coldwater Fishery Foundation again to attempt to do a second round of macro-invertebrate studies. He is trying to provide some science to see if the data correlates with observations that bug life has dropped since the last study finished in 2014. The NGTO BOD is looking to help Chris as we have in the past in any way we can whether financially or possibly getting members to volunteer to help out with the study.

Second, Chris will be discussing the proposed Chattahoochee Greenway Project. The greenway will open up the river corridor and further remove the natural feeling that can be had at times on the upper tailwater. Also, with a possible continuous hard surface for miles directly adjacent to the river, will this contribute significantly to warming of the river. And what can be done about it? It is in the best interests of trout fishermen to be aware of this issue and have some input into the development of the greenway before it occurs.

All are invited to hear Chris speak on these subjects and we'd like to see as much involvement as possible. The meeting will be this next Tuesday, September 17th beginning at 6:30pm at the Diner at Sugar Hill. The Diner at Sugar Hill is located on Hwy 20 between Peachtree Ind Blvd and Buford Hwy. We eat dinner first and then have the presentation by the speaker following. If you are interested in attending, please contact me by PM so I can get an idea of turnout. Thanx, Bill "The Eg" Egeland

Anybody interested in coming to see Chris speak? Both topics have ramifications for the future of the Hooch Tailwater.
