  • Island Ford

I'm new to this forum. I just returned to fly fishing as an adult in June. I fly fishing occasionally on trips growing up but that was 15 years ago. So, I am learning from the beginning. I have been wade fishing Island Ford about once a week with limited success, catching one or two each outing. I've been nymphing with stoneflies, hare's ears, blue assassins and leggy bugs. I also fish woolly buggers with a small drop fly. Any tips or advice would be more than welcome.

Welcome and I’d say catching one or two an outing in the beginning is far from unsuccessful. Island ford can be a tricky place to fish. There are others here that know the area intimately so I’ll leave any suggestions in that area to them.
The best thing that anyone can tell you is just stick with it. Things will start clicking eventually. Also reach out to people and try to meet up with someone. That is one of the best things about this site. When we’re not complaining about the latest environmental issue we can be a pretty helpful bunch.
