  • 2019 NGTO SPRING FLING Coming Up

    Date: SATURDAY, MARCH 30TH
    Place: BUFORD TROUT HATCHERY
Lunch of hot dogs and sides will be served at noon.

Please put it on your calendar if not already scheduled. We would like to invite anybody and everybody that may have something to contribute to a Fling. From rods, reels, and lines to techniques, water craft and such, plan to bring whatever you can contribute to add to the interest of the Spring Fling. This is the first of probably many announcements. We will update as we confirm more information.

The intent of this year's Spring Fling like last year's well received Spring Fling will be informational. The intent is to invite as many of the agencies involved in trout fishing and trout waters in Georgia to be available. Among those hoped to attend will be the GA DNR, The National Parks Service, the US Forest Service, the Corps of Engineers, the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. Trout Unlimited will also be there, hopefully the Georgia Women Flyfishers, and any other non-profits that want to have a presence are welcome.

We would also like to invite all of our sponsors to have a presence if possible (we know a lot goes on in the guiding realm that time of year). Chris Scalley of River Through Atlanta plans to attend and present the intentions for his new studies of macro-invertebrates.

BigT will be offering an on-stream class he calls "Hooch Tactics" if the weather gods permit. We have done high sticking and euro-nymphing enough in the past. According to BigT, this class will be an overview of techniques to catch more fish on the Hooch tailwater.

Times and Presentations are being planned and will be posted shortly.

Steve Hudson has been invited and confirmed. He will probably be doing some tying as well as possibly speaking.

Randy Vinings hopefully will be bringing several of the Old Town kayak line for demo.

EXCITING NEW FLY TYING CLINIC AT THE 2019 SPRING FLING!

Doing something a little different tying-wise at the 2019 Spring Fling, and I think it will be a HUGE amount of fun for tyers of all levels (even kids)! See the separate thread for details, and (here's a clue) don't forget to let me know your choices!

    Best,

    Steve

I spoke with Annie Couch and the National Park Service is confirmed for the Spring Fling. Trout Unlimited will be there also. BigT talked to Tim Rainey with the Corps of Engineers and they may have a representative available to filed questions.

Then burn the entire ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the LORD, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the LORD. God loves BBQ!

First forty kids get one. Foothills Chapter of TU has been giving these “practice casting” games away for a while. We gave away several at the Fly Fishing Show. The first 40 kids that want one can have one free.
