The fossil-fueled flotilla of fishermen (and women) in pursuit of trout (and other lesser species) upon the waters of our beloved state of Georgia (and any other southern states).

"Hook" put out a notice to register for the 'Hooch Clean Up scheduled for 12 April of this year. There are a lot of areas covered for walkers, waders, and paddlers. However, there were no areas mentioned for powered craft. Among the length of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, his list omits a five mile stretch between McGinnis Ferry and Abbott's Bridge.

This five mile section is heavily used and abused by the "yellow hoards" or " 'tubers" who have been putting in at Roger's Bridge Park and floating two miles or so downriver to Abbott's to take out. Above Roger's Bridge are several sections of slack water with innumerable aluminum cans on the bottom, as well as other debris from the general idiot population who have a propensity to not give a [poopie] about what happens to their trash once it exits the car window as they cross the Chattahoochee.

Would any of y'all be interested in forming a small flotilla from, say 8:00AM to 11:00AM Saturday morning to launch from Abbott's Bridge, motor up to McGinnis Ferry, and drift back down collecting trash from the river to deIf we could get half the "navy" out for this, we could make a HUGE impact on this area and fulfill our civic duty to our brethren in that respect.

Let me know what y'all think, and maybe we can get in touch with Hook and volunteer our services for this area that was omitted from the original scope of the event.

Hey, y'all! I know it's a bit early for a lot of folks to consider it, but there has been some interest shown in our annual St. Patrick's Day weekend gathering at the north end of Lake Lanier and up the river by a few of our fish-loving brethren from Tennessee. This came up on the message board at Custom Gheenoe under the forum section "Glorious Georgian Gheenoers". I know Jakal03 and DaDa's Fishing are familiar with the site as they post there frequently as well. Scroll down to the bottom of the linked page to find the particulars.

Do y'all think that maybe we might plan a camping event for the weekend prior to St.Patty's Day and make it a full on event? This year will mark the third year in a row that we have had this gathering of the fleet of microskiffs, so it could be considered an official annual event at this point.

Shoot me a PM or add your thoughts below and let's see what we can put together this coming March.

Tight lines and wet nets, y'all!

Just brought my flats skiff over from S. Louisiana and am hoping y'all may have some room in the fleet. Want to get it out on the water soon now that I've exchange my LA for GA on the registration.

The Upper 'Hooch (above Lac du Lanier, about three or four miles nawth of Clark's Bridge) is skinny and heavily mined with stumps! Prolly not a good idear to run this section 'til we get some significant rain to refill the depleted lake. The ramp at Lula is closed due to low water, and it's hard to find a channel deeper then a foot-and-a-half in sev'ral bends! However, we are still lookin' at conducting fleet maneuvers somewhere on Saturday, the 22nd of September. Shoot enny idears you may have for a location this way!

New date set for the next assault on the upper 'Hooch. Plan on meeting up at the Clarks Bridge Ramp by the Olympic Rowing Center north of Gainesville (Georgia, not Florida) on the 28th of April. Looking forward to seeing the fleet captains and new additions to the fleet!
