Tried sending you a PM about scheduling the lesson and it said your inbox was full and couldn't receive any messages.

    Hi 2fly,
Just wanted to take a few moments to thank you and ask a quick question.

First, your Euro-nymphing talk really demistyfied some things for me and i'm anxious to try it. I think it will help with my indicator fishing as i feel that i'm missing subtle strikes. I think this will help me concentrate more. I hope to find some of that rio two-tone leader material this afternoon for a trip tomorrow.

Secondly, you mentioned a knot that you like that is a good bit quicker than the clinch knot i've been tying since i was a little kid. I can tie that knot well but now that i'm older i have a harder time with it when on the stream. I'm wondering if your other knot might be easier for me.

    Thanks again!

Definitely let me know the next time you are in town and I will be there to learn how to nymph fish. Right now, I'm stuck with streamers because I can't get a good feel for nymph fishing.

    Hi Pat

Are you able to determine whether IF will be too murky to fish today? I'm not certain from looking at the turbidity graphic from Norcross. You're my go to person for all things Island Ford. Any thoughts on whether it will be fishable tonight? The weather should be nice and cool. If the water is clear enough, the fishing could be really fun.

    Hope all is well.

    Mr. Brechbill,

A fellow Infantryman and myself are planning a Saturday run to Smith in the AM and Dukes in PM and advice? I heard Dukes is only for the big boys.

    Mr. Brechbill,
Happy post holidays. Hope you and your family had a good holiday. Mine was good minus my alma mater got smashed (they shall remain nameless).

How have the water been? Been chilly here in Columbus but not as bad as ATL. We (the family and I) drove to MI to see the extended family so I was out of town over the holiday season, too cold in MI to fish.

Just wanted to touch base and see how things were/are going. I am going to be in the area tomorrow, maybe try and stop by IF to at least look at trout water if not fish it.

    Have a good one.

    -Nick

Sorry to say no, I took my dad and nephew out with a guide so there was no room on the small boat to throw flies.

Skill of the Day: Drift control. We talked about line management on our previous SOD post and this is a continuation of that concept. With proper line management you have better drift control. Drift control in most cases refers to ensuring that your flies drift naturally in the current. To do this, you must maintain control of your line to prevent the current from pulling or dragging your fly presentation. If you are using a strike indicator or a dry fly, then this can be the difference in your...

This is an important skill that sometimes gets overlooked by the new flyfisherman. They will work on mastering their cast to get the fly out to the fish, but then miss catching fish by having too much slack or drag in their line. It's important to know and practice controlling the line while presenting your flies to the fish. Work on recovering slack from your line without disturbing your presentation. Learn how to upstream or downstream mend without disturbing your presentation. Casting is a very...
