But where do I put my flask? Have you looked outside today - I ain't going anywhere without a flask! 8- ) That said, it will be interesting
to hear user reports on this concept. I could see it being handy in the rhodo tunnels. --jk--

  • NC update: We are looking at a significant storm. All the weather reports are all excited, but this morning NPR said "it is very reasonable to expect double digit snowfall from this storm". That would pretty much focus on the band from the SC/NC state line (the escarpment) through Ashville/Burnsville...

I used to live just north of Highlands Ranch (when it was till a ranch) and east of Deer Creek Canyon. Recommend you look up some of the Denver metro area TU chapters. And a cautionary statement, Fishing alone in CO is not like fishing alone in GA or NC. There are more things to go wrong, more area...

    The Big Question:

The Big Question is actually, "does more stuff equal more fish?". Of course we all know it's "the right stuff" but point being, take what you need for a given fishing experience. I used a fanny pack for salt fishing for years (spin & bait -...

    NC Fishing

First thing to look at is of course the weather ....... that time of year can almost shirt sleeves or freeze your butt-ons off. As for where, someone mentioned the Davidson and the North Mills and those all work, but where you will be is what I call the great divide, the waters...

    Cody

I don't have a lot of experience in Cody area, but everywhere around is bear country - grizzlies and black bears. Common sense goes a long way. But one thing I will recommend is spending a half day at the Cody Museum. A half day will let you see maybe 1/4 of there exhibits. Only...

  • The Chair

She got the job because she has worked hard many years for TU and is seasoned in all aspects of managing that bunch!

" .. has elected Kathy Breithaupt as the chairwoman of the Council. Not because she is a woman or may be minority in the trout community,...

  • What If?

What if you took the Feds totally out of the picture for fisheries management in GA? Don't forget the state legislature provides much of funding for wildlife and I have never seen any real interest on their part in managing trout. They typically are bass fisherman (some do...

Fascinating. I have never heard about tall grass = deep pluff. Only get to the salt about once a year but this is great intel! Thanks!

    Recommendations: Trout Redfish

I recommend a light coat of cornmeal and pepper and fry the trout. Redfish are great grilled! Don't put a lot of stuff on them - some lime juice, a little pepper and one the grill!

  • Credit or Cash?

Sorry to hear about this, and you have to admit, having the house blow away in the storm is a pretty valid excuse for the rental company. However, I would have insisted on a refund, not a credit. Will the rental company be in operation in five years? How is their record...

    Done Deal

The final bcs game will be 'Bama and Notre Dame. It's pretty much a done deal with the exception of any last minute tap dancing to be done to justify these two. The final research shows that these two teams will sell more corn flakes and beer and carry-out pizza by a wide...

  • Federal and State Management

Our streams and rivers rarely remain within the confines of one state - those dotted lines on a map just are not obeyed by rivers! Or the wind, or the rain, or the birds and deer and elk and etc, etc, etc, ....... TU has adopted a regional approach to our...

    Not Falcons, But ......

Not about the Falcons but did anyone see the Titans, New England game? I loved it! Better than the game was the look on Brady's face after the game!

Disclaimer: You may have detected I am not a NE or Baby Brady fan. 8- )

    Spot?

Spot light? Our NC Mountain Rescue team told our TU meeting that the best way to be located is a high intensity flashlight aimed up into the trees. They said even in the rhodo thickets they can see that light for miles when searching at night.
