I have them and I have been very disappointed. The felt strip down the middle is a joke; far too narrow to actually help. I've had them for 1 1/2 yrs now and they are falling apart.

Thanks for the heads up. That's good information to have. I had about talked myself out of them. I've been...

We stayed in Big Sky several years ago. Took the kids up the creek to Ousel falls and had pretty good luck. Just out of curiosity who did you use for your float trip on the Madison?...

That's good news. I'm heading out there on Sunday. Will be in Whitefish the first part of the week and then going to Gardiner and Island park the second half. Have some trips already lined up and I can't wait. My question is that if we get to Gardiner early enough on Wednesday I would like to try to...

I headed up to the Tallula again Friday after work. Saw the stocking report and decided to give Wildcat creek a try. Got there and couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting another angler so I tried a couple of spots before getting flushed out and then rode on up to the Tallula. Not as many folks there...

Lost fly box at Tallula R

I'm starting to get the hang of this I guess.I managed to lose a fly box at the Tallulah river in Rabun county Friday evening. Clear plastic White River that I got at Bass Pro Shop. Probably 4x6....

I didn't go above the upper campground but the road up that far was fine. Can you fish above the campground? I assumed it was private property...

Tried it again on Wednesday evening. Got there about 6:00 and stayed until 8:30. Started with an indicator rig and then switched to a dry/dropper and finally just a dry. Stayed in 1 spot that has a couple of holes that have produced before. Lots of looks and hits but no solid takes. Tried a couple of...

Does anybody know if the DNR will be stocking this week? Friday?

    Thanks...

  • That raises an interesting point. How long are these things supposed to last? I've got a shoal bass that I had done in 1976 that still looks as good as it ever did. Some of the plaster on the back side is cracking and one of the fins got bent (which neither one of my kids know anything about) but otherwise...

  • Please post a pic of the mount when it's done. Would like to get one done myself one day.

    Tallula R

Me and everybody else decided to head up to the Tallulah Saturday. I got a later start than I wanted so by time I got there around 10:00 it was full up. Pretty much every pullout was taken. Found a spot down low and "pacticed" until it got hot. Didn't get any takes but I only lost a few flies...

  • I tie up a bunch of tandem rigs before heading to the water myself. Saves time and my blood pressure. One "trick" I came up with. The first time I did this I needed some way to wrap the rigs up and keep them from getting all tangled up. I looked around the basement and found a couple of them...

  • We tried the clear plastic bubbles that you fill up with water a couple of years ago out in Mammoth lakes. The trout in the lake we were at were more interested in the bubble than in anything behind it. It was funny. When you would reel the thing in two or three fish would just swim along behind it trying...

I have been looking at the Merrell water shoes. As a matter of fact I have been wading in an old pair Merrill Moabs. They just take a long time to dry out. I am also thinking about the Simms riprap shoes with the felt soles. Does anybody have any experience with them? Seems like a really good idea with...

How do y'all that are familiar with the rest of the country think this felt ban is going to hold up? I've read that a couple of places that banned felt have already backed off for whatever reason.

I'm headed out there the third week of July. We have a couple of float trips set up. One is with World Cast Anglers in Driggs Idaho to float the South fork of the Snake. My buddy I am going with has used them before and didn't hesitate to repeat. We have another float set up for somewhere around West...

Finally got a chance to go back out with the 3wt and put your suggestions to work. I was happy with the results. Thanks to all of you.I do have another question in regards to using a fly as an indicator. Is there a rule of thumb as to what size dry fly will support what size dropper? If I want to drift...

  • Tell them to get there early and be ready to push somebody in. I was up there this past Saturday. I don't know if it was because it was Fathers day weekend or because they were having the kids fishing rodeo over at the Tallulah but it was incredibly crowded. I went up past the second bridge and tried...
