Had a great time Saturday on the river fished above Elliott Rock...slow for the day but all it took was 1 bite, 1 fish. Caught this one in a deep pool on a peach/orange streamer. Measured about 18" and was a great lookin fish. Enjoy!

Fun fun. I've wanted to go up there and check it out - just didn't want to buy the NC license for just a day to do so.

I know, $40 for the year...we bought one last week. But we figured it would give us great reason to try some new rivers and creeks in NC.

I would advise it. Plenty of close NC water to fish ,not to mention that everything is open yr round except for the month of March.

Nice fish, and way to hang in there with the streamers. It's the way to go in those parts this time of year, when one fish can make a day. The NC license is worth the money spent. I usually spend the summers in the smokies backpacking and fishing small streams. When it's 95 in Athens, and 85 in NC that $40 is priceless.

Great fish!

Is the NC section of the river like the last mile or so of the GA section?

Ellicot Rock is at the State line so if he was above it then he was in NC

Thanks zb but I was inquiring more about the structure of the river (width/depth/flow - etc). The river has such a different feel once you get up past the east fork and I didn't know if the NC stretch is a continuation of that. I should have been more specific.

I also was wondering where Ellicot rock was though - now I know.

Cheers,
Nate

is there a North Carolina Trout Online forum or any resource like that available? I was at Unicoi Outfitters talking to Mr John the other day and he was talkin NC up pretty good!
