Why no browns?

Trout1980- why do you say stocking browns is a waste? No trout survive the summer in the DH, rainbow or brown

I had good luck at Paces as well

I had a little over an hour to fish Sunday afternoon. Got out on the water around 3pm.

The weather was so nice it might have felt good even if I was doing my taxes in the middle of the river,...

Caught a few

Been catching a few each outing over the last month but its not like in past years. However for me, it seems the same can be said for the whole DH.

There were years that it was expected that you...

Why cant a COE expert address the subject?

This post reminds me too much of being back in the office.

We have some defending something COE practices without really having the expertise, and others decrying the practices with no more...

I have seen the magic of the red squirrel in action

I was at Paces about the same time last year and saw a guy absolutely where the stockers out. He obviously found the pool but he must have pulled 20 fish out in an hour. He later said he was using...

Thanks to all

I wasted a lot of time searching on the internet until I realized I overlooked the best resource - the NGTO members. Thanks to all for your input. One question - how far in is the hike to...

Where to fish outside Denver?

I am going to Denver on business in July and plan to stay a day to fish. Any recommendations on where to spend a day fishing? I prefer fishing bigger rivers like the Hootch rather than smaller...

attend the seminar

From your description, it sounds like you might need some help reading the river - ie knowing where the fish sit and at what depth. Maybe there is an issue with your drift as well.

These aspects...

my suggestions

My recommendation for a newbie is to try the Delayed Harvest section before it gets too warm (ie before the end of April). This section is heavily stocked Nov-May. The recommended entry point on the...

I met James about 10 years ago on a cool Feb day at Whitewater. Yes he was wading is shorts!

I was wondering about him just a few weeks ago. Is James still around?

What were all the visitors up to then?

I too live about 1/4 mile from that site. I was just wondering what spurred all the activity. Any clue...?

Who was fishing at Bull Sluice this weekend?

I was driving home in east cobb on lower roswell and saw 4 or 5 cars parked off the side of the road between the Gold Branch entrance and timber ridge. On occasion I see a car or two parked there...

Nice start to the New Year at Paces

Spent a few hours Sunday afternoon at Paces. Good start to a new year (see attached picture).

The first hour was a bit slow but action really picked up. Landed several fish including a 17inch...

how do you fish your streamers?

I had a discussion some years back with Willie at FBO about streamer fishing.

Willie's recommended approach was to drop the streamer off a nymph; I fish the combo in the other order.

What are the big bugs coming off on the DH?

I was out at Paces yesterday afternoon and there was a light but continuous hatch of large, off-white / gray bugs. They were about a size 10-12.

Anyone have an idea what they were? If so, any...

Agree with the opinion on Cochran

Cochran used to be my favorite spot until a few years ago. I think they have severely lessened the stocking on this stretch. Its a shame because I think it has as much or more good holding water as...

there is a long, slow, deep section in that area (filled with giant carp I think) so you are correct - no wading there. You need to go further...

Fished Paces from noon until 230. Where was everybody? Had one other fly fisherman under the 75 bridge but that was about all until I waded to the boat ramp.

The water was low and fairly...

anyone check water clarity on the DH today??

Water levels are quite low (no Sat generation) and the turbidity at Jones bridge shows 6 (ie about as clear as it gets).

The weather does not look too bad so I am surprised I have not read more...
