Grumpy Bear Campground is where we stayed as well. Launched our boat right from the campsite. We must not have missed you by much. The place is very nice.

Are you wearing them for warmth? If so you may try just keeping a dry towel with you to dry your hands after you get them wet. This works the best for me on cold days.
