Thumbs up

This thing rocks. It is perhaps the first thing that I have seen that got highly enthusiastic advertising in the catalog and then turned out really to be as good as advertised. Very good wading staff and then folds up completely out of your way.

As I have written before, a wading staff is must-have equipment, IMHO. Very important for safety. Try one.

For those who are reluctant, try this before you buy the real thing. Find an old yard tool handle around the basement or buy one at a hardware store for a few dollars. Attach a lanyard out of some cord or small rope- enough that you can tie the end around your wading belt so it will hang in the water out of your way when you don't need it. This homemade rig is easy and simple and you will quickly see the advantages of a wading staff. The Folstaff is much better and trying this will likly convince you. In water that is more than knee deep you will find you can get to places faster and safer than you ever could before.

Cool

I fish better with mine...or at least I think so, anyway. It really seems like I disturb the stream less when moving around because I can feel the exact contours of the rocks and KNOW where I can safely put my feet, instead of having to feel and guess. Feeling and guessing has been a recipe for lots of sloppy near-falls that disturb fish, in my case. But using the wading staff eliminates those.

I got a Folstaff last year and I love it. It gives you a sense of security even when aren't using it.

I had one - seems like I got it as a gift but
after I went to the trouble & expense of wrapping on guides I never seemed to do to well with it - to stiff in the butt section. I loaned it to a buddy and he said that he could use it for a catfish pole and it fit real good in the glovebox of his F150...
