But I did catch my first fish on a dry fly yesterday!!! Got a small walleye on Carters Lake last night just doin' a little bank fishing. Then the dry fly started to sink a bit so I worked it under the surface for a while and the bream seemed to like that. I missed twice the number of fish I caught, and was getting frustrated watching and hearing all the splashes from the big fishies I couldn't cast to.
I had a problem yesterday, it's not new, but the knot I use to attach the tippit to the leader kept coming unraveled. I use a overhand knot with two loops around the knot, and usually tie the leader first, then follow the leader backwards with the tippit. Is there a easier way to tie this knot, or a better knot to use so when I finally hook up to a lunker, I'll have a better chance of landing him. Shayne

Try a triple surgeon's knot. It's easy to tie, relatively small for going through guides, and effective. I've rarely had a triple surgeon's knot fail though I did have a 24" rainbow break me off at the knot week before last (but five big ones broke me off at the fly, so clearly the knot was not the problem). Look on Google for the knot--plenty of examples of how to tie it.
