Default Dukes: 2, Wet Fly: 1

They say third time is the charm and I'm pretty sure they just might be right. Went up to Dukes with Kurt yesterday and fished it in the rain. Kurt's got a knack for throwing me a curve ball every now and then, so when he called Fri and said he had a spot for me if I wanted it, I quickly replied in the affirmative.

Long story short, we drove up early and geared up in the rain. The creek was still clear but got higher and more stained as the day went on. We fished everything from big and ugly to tiny and pretty, and we caught a few fish. My first Dukes fish was probably the smallest trout in that creek: a two-inch rainbow, which was followed by a shiner that was even smaller (if such a thing was possible).

The skunk was off, however, and soon after Kurt picked up a couple of fish, too. We had a few nice follows and a few big daddy swipes showing us the fat sides. It was a jaw-dropping experience to see something like that. What I would do if I ever hooked one of those monsters, I do not know.

It was a beautiful day in the rain, and in great company. We even came up with a new double-handed cast thanks to Kurt, we just don't have a name for it yet. Using this technique we caught a fish on the second cast. Too bad we started using it at the end of the day.

Thanks for the invite and pictures, Kurt. It was a great trip. Looking forward to the next one.

And thats why Kurt wanted the fishing report.
And I think I got you beat on small fish up there Mo, mine was about an inch and a half. But very pretty and full of pattern and color. Glad you two were able to make it to Dukes for the day.

Nice report Moe!!!

That's a nice little hen you're holding there...she looks really familiar but I could just be guess. I hope Kurt brought you down to the ole "Glory Hole"

I watched him hook pig after pig after pig down there... He would step out and let me have a go and I'd get nothing... then he would step back in and hook one on the first cast....amazing!!!

Oh yeah, did you guys lose my number

Alas, my Duke's Creek rainy big fish day did not materialize as I had dreamed. I did have a pig come and take two lunges at a big bunny streamer missing both (the last from the tops of my boots).

BB - We did fish your hole but didn't even get a strike. I now call it Humble Hole.
