Guys,
I floated from Settles Bridge down a couple of weekends ago. It was the first time I had been in the area for awhile. Can someone tell me what is the construction at Settles Bridge and is it going to be a place that we can all use in the future.

I don't know, but it's major construction. I'm not optomistic about access in the future, but I hope I'm wrong.

I access/ fish the river from my subdivision on the other(west) bank and see the grader and water truck running along there quite frequently. Haven't seen concrete trucks or anything else that would indicate subdivision, maybe sewer or water line? It doesn't look like it meets the set-back requirements...

It does look like sewer work. Alot of pipes laid out. But there is alot of earth being moved too. I know that it cannot stay undeveloped forever.

FF-

Being a newbie, I believe it is just downstream of me. I bought a house in the GC subdivision (don't really want to spell it out)so I've just been accessing the river from there. There is a good 200 -300 yards of wadable river where I can usually catch trout so I haven't invested in the float tube set-up yet. There is a small falls running over some ledgerock (it looks like you would have to portage a canoe around it) about 500 yards upstream. Do you know where I'm at?...

Nope, don't know where it is, but would like to.

As far as the construction, I talked with the security guard (Clarence, I believe). He says they are installing a sewer line (storm or sewage, I don't know).

I am now assuming (if it is sewer) it is connected with Gwinnet counties new plant and system. The paper says they have got a permit to discharge 20 MGD (thats million gallons per day!)to the river (in addition to the 40 MGD thay want to discharge to the lake). Does anyone know where this discharge point is going to be located on the river? Maybe through DNR?
