Default Chattahoochee River - Water Release Info & Gage Heights

'Hooch Flows compliments of Atlanta Fly Fishing Club!

Here's an easy-to-use link to Buford Dam generation provided by Fertrout.

Gage Heights Along the River

Buford Dam Release Schedule:
Today Tomorrow

Lower Pool East
1/1 - 3/21: 7AM-5PM
3/22 - 9/12: 7AM-10PM
9/13 - 12/31: 7AM-5PM

However always play it safe and call COE's recorded hotline for most current release information before heading out or getting out on the river 770-945-1466. If near the Dam tune to 1610 AM.

Additional Gauge Info from NOAA. Same data, different format.

Station map:

Station data:,1,1,1,1,1
From Gatorbyte:

Jones Bridge:

Below Morgan Falls:,00060,00062

Atlanta near Paces:**************

Atlanta near Vinings,00060,00062

Bacteria alert/turbidity levels. This is a quick way to check the turbidity.

A kind of water level predictor by NOAA for the river at Vinings. Take with a grain of salt since it is subject to change.

Main page NOAA hydropgraphic information

Some basic general guidelines for safety when fishing the Hooch below the dam would be helpful.

1. check release schedule
2. PFD must be worn between dam and Hwy 20
3. Turbidity above 10 tends to be poor fishing conditions.
